Sleeping on the Hollandse IJssel
Marnemoende is located in the Hollandse IJssel recreational nature reserve. There are now 60 hectares of forest in this area and this is still being expanded. The camping rafts are spread throughout the area: on an island where many water birds live, at the transition between the lake and the river and on a island with protected nature. All places with wonderful views and lots of natural beauty!
Area
Marina Marnemoende is located on the Hollandse IJssel. There is a bicycle bridge on the site over this canalized river. This bicycle bridge leads to the open meadow area of the Lopikerwaard (part of the Utrechtse Waarden). This part of ‘t Groene Hart is a beautiful area for cycling and walking. The beautiful old Dutch towns of Oudewater (known for the Witches’ Waag) and Montfoort are also located here.
From your camping raft you can canoe to IJsselstein in about an hour. It is a historic city with a castle tower, two special churches and city canals with fortress walls. A flour mill is located on one of these walls. In addition to a city museum, there is a weighing house and a historic town hall. There is a weekly market on Friday and city center activities are often organized on Saturday.

- IJsselstein with its flour mill integrated into the fortress wall, together with the two Nicholas churches and the castle tower, on the city canal.
- Another historic town on the Hollandse IJssel in Oudewater, with the Witches’ Waag and Rope Museum, is well worth a visit.
